This reforestation project, located at Marsac-en-Livradois in the Puy-de-Dôme department, aims to restore a forest affected by severe decay, which necessitated a sanitary cut. Spruce, Douglas fir, beech and maple seedlings will be planted over a 16-hectare area to create a diversified stand that is better adapted to local conditions. Natural regeneration will also be supported to encourage the establishment of a resilient forest capable of providing sustainable ecosystem services while enhancing biodiversity.

Contexte local
The department of Puy-de-Dôme, which takes its name from a dormant volcano in the Puys chain in the Massif Central, boasts some exceptional landscapes that amaze many hikers every year. The area is quite wooded, with 255,000 ha of forest, corresponding to an afforestation rate of 32% (slightly higher than the national average of 31%). This forest has a high economic value, with the forestry and wood industry employing 10,000 people in Auvergne. Puy-de-Dôme is home to almost 40% of the region's timber companies.
