Résumé du projet
This reforestation project in Saint-Victor-Montvianeix (63) is located in the Montagne Bourbonnaise forest, in an area recently acquired by new owners in 2023. This 36.7-hectare plot was clear-cut prior to sale, and the resulting bare ground is now the focus of this reforestation effort. The aim is to restore local and native species such as sessile oak, sycamore maple, birch and cherry, while experimenting with a few exotic species (Atlas cedar, Laricio pine, oak) to diversify the forest in the face of an uncertain climate. This reforestation project is part of a mixed forestry approach with continuous cover, with the priority of maintaining biodiversity. Part of the property is dedicated to the free evolution of spaces, and tree marking in coniferous areas aims to promote minority species.
Principales essences :
Quercus petraea, Pinus sylvestris, Pinus nigra subsp. laricio, Betula sp., Prunus avium, Larix decidua, Cedrus atlantica, Acer pseudoplatanus

Sur le terrain
Contexte local

This forest is located within a largely industrialised forest area, where Douglas fir is the dominant species and is managed intensively using clear-cutting followed by reforestation. This method is not suitable for the new owners, who wish to implement mixed forestry with continuous cover on almost all of their property, while leaving areas for free evolution. This reforestation project aims to restore local, deciduous and native tree species, mainly sessile oak, sycamore maple, birch and cherry.

Actions sur le terrain

Silvicultural activities take place over several years:

  • Soil preparation (shredding)
  • Creation of planting holes
  • Planting
  • Installation of individual protective covers
  • Maintenance of plantations during the first 3 years
  • Application of TRICO
