This planting project is taking place in the Hauts-de-France region, with the aim of moving the plots concerned towards irregular forestry with a continuous canopy. Following an attack by bark beetles (insect pests) in 2020, the owner wants to restore his plots by planting hardwood species such as sessile and pubescent oak, plane maple, chestnut, lime, etc. A total of 9 different species will make up the stand, making it more resilient to insect attacks and climatic damage. As well as creating new refuges to encourage forest biodiversity, the planting will be accompanied by large live trees already present on the plot and preserved. The newly planted trees will also combat global warming by storing carbon in the atmosphere.

Contexte local

The proposed plantation straddles the communes of Englancourt and Chigny, which have a modified oceanic climate characterised by mediocre sunshine, average rainfall spread evenly over the year and cold winters. The project is located 50 kilometres east of Saint Quentin.
