Résumé du projet
This project is taking place in Epernay, in a forest consisting of coppiced hornbeam with few oak, ash and various fruit trees. Six different species will be planted to accompany the natural regeneration of birch and hornbeam. In total, nearly 24,500 trees will be planted, including deciduous species such as downy oak, wild service tree, service tree, etc., which will help to diversify the environment. Ultimately, the restored forest will help to combat climate change through carbon storage by trees, as well as developing biodiversity, which is essential for the natural development of ecosystems.Principales essences :
Quercus petraea, Sorbus torminalis, Sorbus domestica, Prunus avium, Quercus pubescens

Sur le terrain
Contexte local
The project concerns a 10-hectare plot located in Epernay, in the Marne department. The forest is located in Brie Champenoise on soil of excellent quality but heavily degraded by game, and consists of coppiced hornbeam with few oak, ash and various fruit trees. Today, hunting management makes it possible to avoid protective measures and fencing and to achieve the beginnings of natural regeneration.
