Background
Recent years have seen a succession of hot and dry spells. In addition, the soils of this forest plot are only structured at a fairly shallow depth. The shale rock outcrops in places and the slope is quite steep, which does not favour water retention. These factors in this context did not allow the Douglas fir, pine and spruce trees that had been planted to recover properly. Under these conditions, the former forest manager became discouraged and left the site abandoned. Fortunately, the new owner, motivated and passionate, intends to restore this parcel of land to its former forest appearance.
