Context
These 7.20-hectare plots are situated in the state forest of Mende, in the Cévennes National Park. Before the project started, the forest was increasingly suffering from the heat waves due to climate change. Reforestering it was therefore a necessity.
As part of the project, Salzmann pines and Atlas cedars are introduced on the stand. Selected for their resistance to the site’s climatic conditions, these indigenous species will help the forest resist global warming. This diversification will also contribute to the conservation and development of biodiversity on the site. Moreover, the trees will ontribute to the fight against global warming by storing carbon.
