Project description

Reforest'Action invites you to participate in the reforestation of this storm-damaged forest!

The project at a glance

  • Number of trees to be planted: 4,386
  • Plantation area: 4 hectares
  • Species planted: Douglas fir, Scots pine
  • Project type: reforestation after a storm
  • Planting season: Fall-Winter 2022/2023

Context

Following a storm that severely damaged this forest during the 2016 winter, this parcel has to be reforested. This approach will help restoring the pines that suffered the consequences of the storm, as well as enrich the stand with new species, to make it more resilient and adapted to the climatic conditions of the site.

This mixed forest will provide habitat for a rich biodiversity, a central element to the health of the various ecosystems. This plantation project will also have social benefits. Indeed, the work carried out on the plot will provide work for the local population. In the long term, the forest will economically benefit the city as it will contribute to the sustainable production of wood. Finally, the trees composing this restored forest will store carbon over time, thus helping to combat global warming.
