The origin of the project
Located in the Grand-Est region, in Meurthe-et-Moselle, the Ormes forest is an oak grove that underwent a major cut in 1975, with the harvesting of wood with a diameter of more than 45 cm. The new owner now wishes to diversify the stand in order to increase its capacity to host biodiversity and to make it more resistant.
The project thus targets natural regeneration within 35% of the forest surface, with the implementation of enrichment work if necessary. The objective is to obtain, in the long term, a diversified forest worked in irregular high forest, by respecting the natural processes of growth and renewal of the forest.
