Project description

Contribute to the reforestation of these plots of land that have been badly damaged by bad weather and insect attacks, with Reforest'Action!

The project at a glance

Number of trees to be planted: 5,750
Area of the plantation: 4.4 hectares
Species planted: Douglas fir, larch, pectinated fir, Scots pine, Sitka spruce, sycamore maple, Bornmüller fir, beech, chestnut
Project type: restoration of damaged stands

Background

Located in the Parc naturel régional de Millevaches en Limousin, these plots cover 4.4 hectares. The droughts, insect attacks and storms of 1999 greatly weakened the stands. Dead or unhealthy trees have been exploited, leaving gaps that need to be replanted. The owner wishes to plant a mixture of various softwood and hardwood species, which will revitalize the forest

This tree planting project will create a real forest ecosystem. The planting of various species will provide biodiversity with many habitats and resources. It will also strengthen the stand against climatic hazards, diseases and insect attacks. The trees will produce quality wood, sustainably storing atmospheric carbon.
